How to keep the kid entertained in the school holidays?

Perhaps the largest challenge a parent faces is keeping their children entertained during school holidays. We all begin with high hopes, but hope fails quickly as choruses of “I’m bored” ring through the house. It’s challenging to maintain a budget and keep the kids entertained. Luckily, we have some hints and tips to help you out.

Fun At Home

Sometimes you just want to stick to the house. That’s okay, there is plenty of fun to be had at home. Wrestle the gadgets out of their sticky little hands and have fun together! Plan a film day – let each child choose a film or two and kick back with snacks to enjoy together.

Why not teach your children how to cook? There are plenty of easy recipes available online that are perfect for kids. It will also teach them about food, where it comes from, and what goes into making their meals.

Encourage them to use their imagination by dressing up in old clothes and put on a show. Don’t just leave them to it, this is one you can join in on! Or, build a fort with blankets and cushions and have a camping trip in your lounge.

Of course, you can also let them run free in the garden.

Over on Anne Street, you can check out the brand new Inflatable World. It’s Australia’s largest indoor inflatable playground. It’s a great way to spend two hours and it should burn off plenty of energy, too. Adults don’t have to be spectators.

Tamworth Skatepark is another excellent choice if you have active bundles of energy who are desperate to go crazy in the sunshine. It has already been voted one of the best skateparks in Australia.

Of course, there are the more traditional options like 10 pin bowling , Kid Zone, and Forum 6 Cinema.

To finish on a free note, why not check out the bushwalk at Oxley Scenic Lookout? It’s a 6k hike so you will want to be well prepared. Of course, you don’t have to do the full walk, you can keep it as short and sweet as your kids can handle.
