As you embark on building your new home, you will have a lot of decisions to make. Your home is your haven, your retreat from the stresses of daily life. It’s somewhere you should be able to kick back, relax, and enjoy spending time with friends and family. The colours you choose will play a large role in that. To help make your decisions easier, here are some of the colour trends you can expect in 2020.
Earth Tones & Greys
Everyone wants to create an outside-in look to feel a bit more connected with nature. That means using earth tones and neutrals. Think tan, meadow shades of green, and brown tones like hazelnut.
Grey isn’t going away – it truly is the new white. With so many shades of grey available, you are sure to find the perfect one. Grey and green are a marriage made in heaven. It’s a grounding combination perfect for bedrooms and the lounge. In fact, as you’ll soon see, shades of grey are the perfect accompaniment to most colours.
Perfectly Pastel
Pastel colours provide a breezy feel to any room. They’re light and airy and an excellent starting point to inject your home with colour. Mint green is set to be the biggest pastel of 2020. Mint is unique and because of its green tones, it ties in well with the more natural tones. It is calm, relaxed, and great in any room. If you aren’t the minty type, don’t worry, there are plenty of other popular pastels to choose from – think lemon, peach, and soft blues.
Rich & Intense Tones
There’s something about intense tones that slows everything down. When used in conjunction with other colours you can create a warm room that gives quiet vibes. Purple or deep teal can be mixed with nudes or powdery greens. Deep red is going to push pink to the side for people who want to create a room that feels luxurious and romantic.
Au Natural
When you embrace a more natural look, you will use the power of mixed materials and texture to bring out the richness of natural colours. Dark grey, wood tones, mid-tones, and deep browns. It’s all Au natural and it’s the perfect choice for your lounge or kitchen.
Dark & Reflective Tones
Dark colours can be relaxing, too. If you want to create a spaced that is dark, reflective, and meditative, consider looking to the darker end of the colour palette. Rich reds, moody blues pair, dark charcoal and black all pair well with nudes and will enhance your relaxation spaces.
The beauty of many of the colours we’ve mentioned above is how well they all go together. While these are popular trends for 2020, many of them are timeless options that you will love even as the years go by, and the trends change.
